Illustration from holiday catalog

Our tradition for the December newsletter is to ask each member of our staff to name three books from our Holiday Catalog that they’d like to receive and three they’d like to give. Be sure to check out the suggestions in Youth Yak, too. Many of them are books for adults as well as for young people.

Books I'd like to give:

Before We Forget Kindness
Toshikazu Kawaguchi

I have so many questions I wished I’d asked my parents and others while they were still alive. I know other people feel the same way—perhaps we should all read this book about a restaurant where customers can travel back in time. What questions would you like to have answered?

Midwest Bedrock

This book, part history and part memoir, will have great appeal to those who are grounded in our region with its “stories of the past that linger on the landscape.”

Bob and I recently had our home recarpeted, hurray! Of course that meant all the furniture and the contents of the closets needed to be moved. As we’re putting everything back, we’re going through it with critical eyes, and we need all the help we can get!

Alice Hoffman

While classified as young adult historical fiction, I’m betting that this book about Anne Frank before she went into hiding will have great appeal to adults as well.
