Short
Holly Goldberg Sloan
I'm listening to Short on libro.fm. Sloan is the author of the 2013 book, Counting by 7s (which has won a ton of awards and honors.) Short is a funny middle-grade novel about a girl who is.....short. Very short. She grows into herself which playing a Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz. I've just begun the book, but like Counting by 7s, I've already been drawn in by a distinct character that I suspect I will care a great deal for!

The Amateurs
Sara Shepard
This new Sara Shepard mystery would be perfect for anyone who loved Shepard’s Pretty Little Liars series. Seneca spends a lot of her time on Case Not Closed, a site where amateur detectives can talk with others to help solve cold cases. She makes plans to meet up with Maddy, a friend she met on this site, to discover what happened to Helena, a girl who went missing and was later found dead. From the very beginning of this partnership, things start going wrong. Maddy isn’t exactly who Seneca thinks she is and Aerin seems less than thrilled with this duo working on her sister's case. As Seneca and her friends start to get close to solving the mystery, secrets are revealed and all along the killer is closer than you think.

Caraval
Stephanie Garber
Scarlett and her sister Tella live with their abusive father on a small island with little hope of redemption. Scarlett has dreamed since she was a small child of seeing Caraval, a magical performance where the audience participates in the game. Unexpectedly, Scarlett is sent tickets to see Caraval from the creator himself, Legend. She and Tella manage to escape the island with the help of a sailor and head off to Caraval. Matters are complicated when Tella goes missing and is part of the game--the players must find her in order to receive their prize. The only problem is that this year's game could have more deadly consequences if Scarlett does not find her sister in time.
