Exit, Pursued by a Bear
by E.K. Johnston

Hermione is a senior in high school and the co-captain of her cheerleading squad. She has had a normal life until she is drugged and raped at cheerleading camp. She cannot remember any details about that night and there isn’t enough evidence for a DNA test. She copes well with the situation with the help of her best friend and co-captain, Polly, along with weekly sessions with a psychiatrist; her teammates and parents are also extremely supportive. She tries to remember the night and ultimately new evidence is discovered, but will her assailant ever be caught?

Complicit
by Stephanie Kuehn

This book is a YA psychological thriller with a marvelously twisted ending; the book keeps you continuously guessing until the very end. Jamie and Cate are siblings who are adopted at a young age after the death of their mother. Jamie suffers from extreme anxiety—sometimes his hands go numb and he cannot use them; he has a shrink. Cate seemed to be the more well-adjusted of the two siblings until high school when she started having substance abuse problems. She burned down a horse barn and was sent to juvie. Cate is released and she is going to explain to Jamie the truth about their past. Nothing is as it seems and Cate’s best intentions do not render the expected outcome.
