News from the Bindery
For some time now, we have not taken new projects in the Bindery so that Jen could do a little
catch-up.
In 2023, we will begin taking books for repair again using an appointment system. We’ll let you know when your book(s) appointment for repair will be (it’s fine to bring in your book(s) ahead of appointment time) and when you can expect the repairs to be completed.
Those who are still in the queue will be given the first appointments and will be charged the bindery rate we’ve had in place for the last 9 years, which was $50 for a small-medium sized book, $100 for a large (thick) book, and $20 more for leather covering.
New projects will be charged the new bindery rates, which will be $60 for a small-medium sized book, $120 for a large (thick) book, and $25 more for leather covering.
Bindery questions should be directed to Jen:
Email: bindery@beagleandwolf.com
Bookstore phone, 218-237-2665
Store cell phone, 218-255-4828 text messages only

We’re working with Amy on plans for a launch event which will be ticketed, off-site, and only open to those who purchase their copy of the book from us. We’ll share details as plans progress. The book may be pre-ordered on our online store or by calling the store.

January is Puzzle Month!
If you’re like a lot of people, winter is the time you hole up and work jigsaw puzzles. In response, January 29 was named National Puzzle Day. Any puzzler knows that’s way too short a time, so it’s been expanded to the whole month.
If you need a new puzzle or two, stop in and check out our stock!

Accepting Used Books Again
Beginning February 1, we’ll again be accepting used books. We’re interested in recent fiction, mysteries, and books for middle grade readers and young adults. Books should be in good to excellent condition. We sort and process books as time allows and pay in store credit. |

Wherever I'm At: An Anthology of Chicago Poetry
Edited by Donald G. Evans and Robin Metz
I spent Christmas in Chicago but never left the living room of my Minnesota Northwoods home. Our web goddess, Hannah, sent us a special book called Wherever I'm At: An Anthology of Chicago Poetry.
While cozy in my PJs, I visited all different places and times of Chicago; parks (some familiar, most not), even did some book making at Hull House, and realized (duh) that “the lake” for those in Chicago is Lake Michigan (unlike Minnesota in which Lake Superior is “the lake”.) To call this book a poetry anthology is a bit misleading because it also includes some fine art pieces by Chicago artists (in color!) Additionally, the foreword and introduction are well worth the read with the history of the making of this fine collection. This is not merely a thrown-together collection of poems by Chicago-area artists. 134 poets contributed to this collection (including BIG names like Elizabeth Alexander and Luis Alberto Urrea) and each poem references Chicago. We’re so often asked where we find out about books and sometimes, the answer is. “We were lucky enough to be given an incredibly thoughtful gift from a friend” ❤ Here’s a youtube of Cynthia Gallaher talking about this anthology and reading her contribution, Making Books at Hull House.
