It's July—Where’s Waldo?
We’re doing Find Waldo Local again!!!!!!
YAY!!!!!!
This is one of Park Rapids’ favorite summer activities—during the month of July, Waldo will be hiding in a number of PR businesses such as retail shops, art galleries, the Chamber of Commerce and the library. Get a Find Waldo passport, find Waldo in participating businesses and get your passport stamped at each business. When you get 10 stamps, you’ll instantly be rewarded with a small prize (while supplies last) AND you’ll be eligible to win the GRAND PRIZE drawing which includes a gift from each participating business—spoiler, the gift from us is a BUNCH of Waldo books! Also, if you’re lucky, you’ll spot a live Waldo and his sidekick Wenda wandering around town. |
Lisa Malice
July 6, noon to 2:00
Lisa will be with us to visit about her thriller, Lest She Forget, and to sign copies of the book.
After surviving a car crash, Kay Smith wakes from a coma with amnesia, a battered face, and no one to vouch for her identity. Her psychiatrist is convinced that her memory loss is connected to the horrific flashbacks and nightmares haunting her. As she digs for clues to her past, Kay uncovers a shady character following her every inquiry. Who is he? What does he want from her?
As Kay’s probes deepen, she realizes everyone around her has deadly secrets to hide—even her. Emerging memories, guilty suspicions, and a headline-screaming murders push Kay to come out of the shadows and choose: will she perpetuate a horrendous lie, or risk her life to uncover the truth? |

Books and registration materials are available in the store.
Identical retreats will be held October 11 to 13 and 25 to 27. The second retreat is full, with a waiting list, but there is still space available for the first weekend.
The cost of the retreat will be $395.00. We encourage you to register now with a $100 deposit. (Non-refundable unless we fill your spot.) There is no charge to placeyour name on the waiting list for the second weekend.

Ceremonies for No Repair
Paula Cisewski
One of the authors we hosted at Author Fest was poet Paula Cisewski and I’ve been reading her collection, Ceremonies for No Repair.
An unwanted (and unexpected) breakup of a marriage is never welcome, but even less so during the Covid pandemic, as happened to the author of this collection. The title refers to the many ways (ceremonies if you will) a grieving person tries in attempting to heal and move forward. The author writes a variety of types of poetry, including some pieces in which the reader must turn the book in order to read. I’ve never read a collection of poetry with so many footnotes! And I like it! There is also a fair amount of artwork included. This collection includes the first “poem comic” I’ve encountered (drawn by the author.) There are 13 poems titled Mother Corona. This collection reminds me that poetry can be a visual artwork. Give it a peek!
