Waiting Rooms In the independent bookstore business, we get to know other indie booksellers and develop friendships with them. One of the friendships we've enjoyed is with Laura Hansen, poet, and owner of Bookin' It in Little Falls, which closed in 2013, after 20 years in business. Laura also is a breast cancer survivor. Her latest collection of poems is titled Waiting Rooms: My Breast Cancer Journey in Poems. There is also a selection of poems at the end of the collection in memory of Laura's brother, Timothy. Laura's poems about her experiences with breast cancer are poignant, honest, and at times humorous and/or mundane (ie: the parade of cancer patients stating name and birthdate, name and birthdate, name and birthdate.......) My two favorite pieces in the collection are Breath Work, a poem about the long view benefits of meditation, and Resurgence, a poem which fits perfectly in a collection about cancer and could also be shared in many other contexts.
