Remember
Joy Harjo, Illustrated by Michaela Goode

Harjo's beautiful poem reminds us of the many connections in our lives. We are connected to our families and all human beings. Nature and the entire universe are among our relationships. This picture book version of the poem "Remember" expresses Jo Harjo's message in a form understandable to younger readers. Illustrator Michaela Goode is a member of the Tlingit Nation. Her bright, bold illustrations add to the beauty and powerful message of the book. I plan to share Remember with the young people in my life.

The Megavan
Mark Therrien, Illustrated by Kevin Cannon

The Megavan is the story of a minivan that thinks its name is Let's, as in "Let's Go!" It hauls Christmas trees and heavy equipment. It transports the dog to the dog park and becomes an escape vehicle when the parents need a break. It has a To Do list that includes getting the family to their many destinations. Just as the minivan takes care of the family, the family takes care of the minivan by keeping it clean and in working condition. You'll agree when the minivan proclaims it is not just a minivan but a MEGAVAN. This story will ring true to children and adults alike. The lively, colorful illustrations add to the fun.

Author Mark Therrien will be in the store on July 29 for a signing. Do you think he’ll come in the Megavan?

A mother bear carrying her cub on her back looks a teddy bear in the eye and says, "Let me tell you something, something about a bear." And she does! Something About a Bear describes eight kinds of bears: their appearances, habitats, favorite foods, and enemies. Short lyrical stanzas and beautiful watercolor illustrations make this book an excellent introduction to nonfiction. Something About a Bear is sure to be a favorite.
