Thank you
Every single Christmas card we received this year commented on the challenges of 2020. Like everyone else, we faced those challenges in our personal lives, as well as in the life of the store. Because of our loyal customers, the store is weathering the pandemic reasonably well. Thank you for your continued friendship and support. We appreciate you more than we can express. Because of your support, we are able to celebrate a landmark event in the life of the store! (Read on for details.)
In July 2001, Jill and Deane Johnson opened Beagle Books in downtown Park Rapids. We’ll be celebrating our 20th anniversary all year long! The details of the celebration will be developed as the pandemic loosens its grip and we return to life which is more normal. But for now, we know that on the 20th of each month, we’ll have a drawing for a bag packed with books and bookish swag. Sign up every time you’re in the store—no purchase required. (We won’t be able to ship the prize bags—they will need to be picked up in the store.)

Night-In
Our popular winter event for readers will be held virtually January 16 at 7:00 pm. It will last about an hour, and Jen and Sally will give book talks on 15 or so books. Our friend, Random House rep Jason Gobble, will make a cameo appearance to recommend one of his favorite books. (You may remember Jason from the August version of Night In.) As always, we’ve picked books from a variety of genres which we think will be interesting to read and discuss. The books we highlight will be available in the store or online at a 10% discount January 16 to 23. (If you order them online put “Night In Discount” in the comments field.) We’re glad to mail or deliver them, too.
There will be some differences with a virtual event—you’ll have to supply your own beverage and snacks, there won’t be a Sunday morning session this year, AND you won’t have to venture out on what’s often the coldest night of the year. We hope you’ll join us for this fun evening! We plan to make a recording of the event available for viewing afterwards.
