No surprise—we think books make the very best gifts for any occasion. As always, there are several ways for you to shop with us.

Instore

We love seeing you in person! Our staff is always ready to talk books and make suggestions for everyone on your shopping list. And we’ll be glad to gift wrap everything you purchase. See our December hours below. And when you’re in the store, you can discover our non-book merchandise, much of which is not on our online store. We have greeting cards, earrings, puzzles, games, socks, T-shirts, and toys. The physical copy of our Holiday Catalog, which is available in the store, contains descriptions of each book.

There’s a new look in the store!

You know how sometimes an idea takes on a life of its own, and the end product is wonderful but completely different from what was initially envisioned? That’s what recently happened at the store with a great idea Jen had, and we couldn’t be happier.

Any time, any season seems right to me for reading poetry, but winter especially seems the perfect time to snuggle up with it.

Below are five new (October 2023 or later pub dates) that I recommend:

book cover

Songs, Blood Deep
Gwen Nell Westerman

Westerman is the poet laureate of Minnesota, and this book is in our holiday catalog! Divided by seasons, the poems in this collection are gentle and accessible and weave Dakota in with English.

The Letters I will Never Send
Isabella Dorta

The title is fairly self-explanatory, but what it doesn’t tell you, dear reader, is this collection is the voice of youth and the exuberance of youth that bursts into our world (thank goodness).

Another Last Call
Poems on Addiction & Deliverance
edited by Kaveh Akbar and Paige Lewis

This collection, narrowly focused on addiction struggles, has an impressive list of contributors It’s a great way to sample the work of poets you may not be familiar with.

How to Communicate
John Lee Clark

Clark is another amazing Minnesota poet, drawing on life experience as DeafBlind (the author’s description) in pointed and at times very funny prose poems. This is a must read.
