We’re Now selling e-readers and e-books!

We are pleased to announce that this month we are beginnig to sell Kobo e-readers, accessories, and e-books. Kobo’s e-readers are best sellers in 200 countries around the world. Inspired by a "Read Freely" philosophy and a passion for innovation, Kobo is one of the world's fastest-growing eReading services. Read Freely stems from Kobo's belief that consumers should have the freedom to read any book, anytime, anyplace—and on any device. They believe open standards for eBooks are best for consumers, publishers, retailers and hardware manufacturers. Closed systems stifle innovation and growth. Kobo encourages users to read  Kobo-purchased eBooks on smartphones, eReaders, laptops, or whichever devices they choose. Their catalog includes over 2.5 million e-books.

The Kobo kit arrived! The Kobomini and Koboglo has arrived at Beagle Books. If you are considering the purchase of an e-reader, stop in and let us show you what Kobo has to offer.

As with many things in the United States this week, availability for this new service was affected by Hurricane Sandy. We appreciate your patience as technical problems are worked out.  And remember, you don’t need a Kobo e-reader for Kobo e-books! Jen reads e-books on her smart phone, Bob uses a Nook, and Sally uses her laptop.

Peter Geye reading and book signing

November 17
5:00 pm

Peter’s latest book, The Lighthouse Road, was released on October 16, and we’re thrilled to be included on his book tour! Join us at Bella Caffe’ (right next door to Beagle Books) for a reading and book signing. Appetizers will be complimentary; cash bar will be available. The Lighthouse Road is the story of a young immigrant woman settling into life outside Duluth in the 1890s, and of her orphaned son in the early 1920s. It’s a deeply moving tale of a misbegotten family shaped by the rough landscape in which they live—often at the mercy of wildlife and weather—and by the rough edges of their own breaking hearts. It reminded Sally of her great-grandmother—but you don’t need a Norwegian immigrant great-grandmother to love the book! We’ll also have copies of Peter’s first book, Safe from the Sea. Either book would make a great gift for someone on your holiday shopping list.
